Many of you reading this may have already entrusted my office to hold important documents (such as titles, deeds, Wills and Powers of Attorney) on your behalf in our safe custody facility. This is a free service which we offer to all of our clients.
I began holding documents for my clients in 1980 when I first started in practice on my own accord. At that time a handful of documents were contained in a small bright orange tin, later it was several tins. Today these documents are kept in a large compactus contained in a fireproof room. Those documents have been kept in that room since 2005 when I first moved to my current office in Turner.
As part of the service I provide to clients, and to ensure that our records are current and well maintained, my staff and I undertake a full audit of the facility on a regular basis.
I strongly recommend if I hold documents for you, that you update my office with your contact details as necessary so that my records are current, and so that I am able to contact you or your family about the documents if necessary.
Also please feel free to contact me or my staff to get a list (or copies) of documents I hold on your behalf.
If you have important documents such as title deeds or wills at home, or in a place that is not secure, then I recommend that you contact me or my staff to see if these documents would be better held by Tetlow Legal. I am more than happy to give you a receipt for these documents and copies so that you have a record for yourself.
If we are holding wills or enduring powers of attorney for you please do not hesitate to contact me or Emma Bragg to see if these documents need to be updated by phoning 6140 3263.
